On the eve of the 2024 European Men's Football Championship, the Portugal Football Observatory analyzed the contexts that can distinguish qualified teams from non-qualified teams.

Among others, the main differences between the teams stand out when analyzing the clubs and competitions where the players compete. And that 70% of the players most used during qualification by the qualified teams played for a club from the “Big 5” countries (England, Spain, Italy, France or Germany). This value drops to around half (34%) if the selections that did not qualify are taken into account.
